Robert W. Martin, 83, of Danbury, devoted husband of Betty-Jean (Rockwood) Martin, died May 23. He was born October 31, 1925, in New Haven, son of Thomas and Ruth (Doolittle) Martin.
In addition to his wife and three daughters, survivors include a brother, Thomas Martin of Newtown; and two grandchildren.
Mr Martin served in and was honorably discharged from both the US Maritime and the US Army, serving during World War II.
He served as a city letter carrier in the Stamford Post Office. He was later employed by the Peabody Engineering Company in engineering and management positions during his 38 years there.
Mr Martinâs first priority was his family, and he and his wife provided a base of support and love to a multitude of family and friends.
Funeral services are scheduled for Friday, May 29, at 1 pm, in the Cornell Memorial Home, 247 White Street, Danbury. Burial will follow in Mountain View Cemetery, New Fairfield. Friends may call Friday between the hours of noon and 1 pm.
