A Bumpy Ride On Poverty Hollow
A Bumpy Ride On Poverty Hollow
To the Editor:
Living in western Newtown and working in Westport, my commute requires me to use Poverty Hollow Road from Flat Swamp Road to Church Hill Road in Redding. Iâve been traveling this road for 18 years. It was never a silky ride, but for a country road it was reasonable. In the last few years it has deteriorated beyond safe travel.
Yesterday a town truck was stopped and several fellows were putting down cold patch. I stopped and asked when they may be resurfacing? His response was, âWeâre told to keep on patching.â
There is a new sign northbound on Poverty Hollow, âWelcome to Newtown.â My wife said it should also say, âWatch Out For The Pot Holes.â If the town fathers had to drive this road they might do something about this unsafe condition. I hope this letter will elicit a positive response.
