Marie Greenman

Marie Leonard Greenman, formerly of Newtown, died November 10, in California.

She was the wife of the late Mertoun Greenman and had lived in Madera, Calif.

She was born in Bridgeport on November 26, 1915, daughter of the late Ray

Mason Leonard and Marie McGregor Leonard. She was Newtown resident from 1930

to the early 1940s. She graduated from Newtown High School, and attended Penn

State College of Optometry.

Of her many jobs, one of the earliest one was with the Newtown Telephone

Company. Later, after moving to California, she worked for Yosemite National

Park. She was also a long-time employee of J.C. Penny in California.

After retirement she generously contributed her time to volunteer activities.

She is survived by a daughter, Susan Martin of Madera, Calif.; two

grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and a sister, Barbara Leonard Wiser of

New Milford.

Friends gathered at Jays Chapel in Madera, Calif., on November 15. Interment

will be in the spring at Village Cemetery, Newtown, at the convenience of the

family.
