Two Charged
Police said they stopped motorist Andrew Mormando, 18, of 16 Philo Curtis Road for a motor vehicle violation while he was driving on Walnut Tree Hill Road on the night of April 20.
After investigating, police charged Mormando with failure to illuminate a rear marker plate, misuse of marker plates, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Police said they charged a passenger in that vehicle, Matthew Gaudette, 18, of 1 Hill Crest Drive, with possession of drug paraphernalia. Police said they released both men on written promises to appear in court on May 8.
Rollover
About 5:14 am April 22, motorist Jesse Buescher, 28, of Waterbury was driving a 1996 Ford Crown Victoria sedan eastward on Interstate 84, near Exit 10, when the auto went off the road, crossed through a turf area, climbed an embankment and then came to rest on its roof near some trees, state police said.
The Newtown Volunteer Ambulance Corps went to the scene to check Buescher and passenger Sean Nolan, 26, of Danbury, but both men refused medical attention, state police said.
No information on possible enforcement action was available.
Weapons Charges
Newtown police said that they and Shelton police conducted a search at the residence of William Kundert, III, 23, of 216 South Main Street on the night of April 19, in connection with an incident that had occurred in Shelton.
Police said they found various items at the residence that resulted in Kundertâs arrest. Police charged Kundert with criminal possession of a firearm, criminal possession of a pistol, possession of narcotics, failure to keep narcotics in their original container, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Police held Kundert on bail for an April 20 court appearance. Kundert was being held this week on $100,000 bail at Bridgeport Correctional Center.
Tunnel Road
About 2:48 am April 22, motorist Tracy Birkins, 21, of Roxbury, who was driving a 2001 Mitsubishi convertible northward on Tunnel Road, lost control of the auto, crossed into the southbound lane and struck a tree along the southbound road shoulder, police said.
Neither Birkins, nor a passenger were injured, police said. Police took no enforcement.
