Arrest Stems From Garner Incident

On February 15, at Danbury Superior Court, state police arrested a state prison inmate on a warrant, charging him with first-degree assault and with breach of peace.

State police arrested inmate Jorge Benitez, 32, who is currently a prisoner at Northern Correctional Institution in Somers. The charges stem from an incident that occurred last October 27, when Benitez was a prisoner at Garner Correctional Institution in Newtown, state police said.

Benitez is serving a four-year term at Northern for a conviction on a charge of second-degree larceny.

Benitez was arraigned in court on the arrest warrant charges on February 15.
