Elizabeth K. Hamilton

Loved Friends, Family,

And Flying

Elizabeth (Betty) K. Hamilton, 77, of Newtown, wife of Frederick (Ted) J. Hamilton, DDS, died February 18 in Danbury Hospital with her family by her side. Mrs Hamilton was born in Baltimore on July 2, 1929, the youngest of five children born to James and Adelle Kennedy.

In addition to her husband, Mrs Hamilton is survived by six children and their spouses, Beth and Rick Davis of Newtown, Bob and Susan Hamilton of Orinda, Calif., Joe and Loryn Hamilton of Rutland, Vt., Mary Ann and Jeffrey Haines, of Bethesda, Md., Meg and Jim Barlow of Fairfield, and Patty and Mark Robinson of Roseville, Calif.; 16 grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Her son Tommy Hamilton, as well as her four siblings, predeceased her.

She was raised in Baltimore and attended Notre Dame Preparatory School and the College of Notre Dame of Maryland, where she was class president at both. After graduation she spent several memorable years working as an airline stewardess for Capitol Airlines, where she fulfilled her love of flying. On one particularly unforgettable flight she met her future husband and best friend, Ted. This chance meeting served as great material for many jokes to be told by her children in the years to come. After marrying in 1956, the Hamiltons went on to raise seven children with much love and patience. The family recalls great times in the Hamilton house where the door was always open and the conversation and laughter flowed. The Hamilton children attended Our Lady of the Assumption School where Mrs Hamilton was very active and made many wonderful friends. She then spent several years on the bleachers and sidelines of Andrew Warde High School armed with halftime oranges slices for the players. She simply loved to watch young people enjoy themselves, and for this her children will be forever grateful.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 24, at 9:30 am, directly in Our Lady of the Assumption Church, 545 Stratfield Rd, Fairfield, with a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in Oak Lawn Cemetery, Fairfield. Friends may call Friday, February 23, from 4 to 8 pm in the Redgate-Hennessy Funeral Home, Main Street and Gorham Place, Trumbull.
