Working Out A Sale
Chuck and Lou Maute, the owners of The Gym at Newtown, are looking for new owners to take the reins and take over ownership at their Commerce Road facility.
After three and a half years of improvements to the building and business, coupled with steady revenue and membership growth, the Mautes are moving on to new ventures and challenges, according to a release issued to The Bee from Daniel Gaita, MA, president, Personal Trainer Listing Service.
Mr Gaita is working with the family on marketing the property, and also consults with The Gym in his capacity as a personal trainer.
Since taking over in 2003, the Mautes increased its membership base to nearly 1,400 members while implementing renovations to the shower and locker rooms, floors, lighting for racquetball courts and the clubâs gymnasium. The facility now boasts a state-of-the-art phone system, as well as a new baby-safe room within the nursery.Â
The family has invested in new cardiovascular machines, weight training equipment, and fully outfitted its aerobics department for beginner to advanced group training.
Members may participate in circuit training, special high intensity group workouts, self-defense courses, and healthy cooking classes and samplings in a family-friendly environment that features a junior juice bar for kids and a pro shop clothing line with seasonal athletic apparel.Â
The Mautesâ unique 25,000-square-foot facility is one of the few in the area with multiple racquetball courts. According to the release, the past two months have seen the greatest increase in terms of membership growth.Â
Currently, the couple is speaking with potential buyers. Interested parties are invited to contact them via email at newtowngym@comcast.com.
