Newtowner Joins Hospital’s Pulmonology Unit

DANBURY — Jose Luis Mendez, MD, a pulmonologist who resides in Newtown, recently joined Danbury Hospital’s Department of Medicine, Section of Pulmonary Disease.

The bilingual Dr Mendez is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in both internal medicine and pulmonary diseases. He will soon be certified in critical care and sleep medicine as well.

Dr Mendez was a resident at Danbury Hospital until four years ago and went to the Mayo Clinic, Rochester, Minn., where he completed a fellowship in pulmonary, critical care, and sleep medicine. He earned his medical degree at the National University of Cordoba, Argentina, where he also completed an internal medicine residency.

Dr Mendez was named both Intern of the Year and Resident of the Year at Danbury Hospital. He is widely published and has presented his research at conferences throughout the United States and Argentina.
