Garbage Museum Will Hold Family Fun Day

STRATFORD — Connecticut Resources Recovery Authority (CRRA) will hold it next Family Fun Day event at The Children’s Garbage Museum on Saturday, March 18, from 10 am to 2 pm. All activities are free.

Visitors will be able to tour the museum, explore exhibits, create a recycled rainbow craft, and catch a bird’s-eye view of CRRA’s container recycling facility. The recycled craft, using cling vinyl, colorful rainbow pieces and a lucky pot of gold sticker, will decorate a window.

Storm, mascot of the Bridgeport Sound Tigers hockey team, will make a special guest appearance.

Guests will also be able to take part in scavenger hunts searching for “found” treasures on Trash-o-Saurus, a one-ton dinosaur made from salvaged items. Families may also participate in a popular activity, Trash Bash.

“We encourage families and Scout groups to attend this event. The activities are interactive and fun for all ages,” says Sotoria Montanari, education supervisor.

CRRA is a quasi-public agency whose mission is to develop and implement environmentally sound solutions and best practices for solid waste disposal and recycling management on behalf of municipalities.

CRRA also runs environmental and recycling educational programs through its Visitors Center and Trash Museum in Hartford and The Children’s Garbage Museum in Stratford.

The Children’s Garbage Museum is at 1410 Honeyspot Road Extension. For information or directions, call 203-381-9571 or visit www.CRRA.org and click on “Education Centers.”
