Betty Jane Cardone

Betty Jane (Hull) Cardone, 83, of Fairfield, died April 12 in her home.

She was the mother of Patty Lynch of Newtown.

Born in Ohio, Mrs Cardone lived in Fairfield for most of her life. She was a graduate of Roger Ludlowe High School, received her RN degree from the Bridgeport Hospital School of Nursing, and graduated from Sacred Heart University with a BS degree. Betty Jane volunteered extensively with the American Red Cross, the Catholic Church as a CCD instructor, and church organizations including suicide prevention and the Cursillo movement. Mrs Cardone was a music enthusiast and an avid swimmer.

Survivors include her husband of 58 years, Dr Michael J. Cardone of Fairfield; eight other children, Susanne Buckley of New Milford, Cathryn Morrison-Lebish of Westport, Mary Lynn Rowe of Monroe, Betsy Lincoln of Fairfield, Michele Cardone of Black Rock, Dr Michael Cardone of Boston, James Cardone of Virginia Beach, and Marla Jane Cardone of Baltimore; 15 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 15, at 8:45 am in the Spear Funeral Home, 39 South Benson Road, Fairfield, and at 9:30 am in Assumption Church with a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will be in St Michael Cemetery.

Friends may call Friday from 6 to 8 pm.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Visiting Nurses of Connecticut Hospice at Home, 765 Fairfield Avenue, Bridgeport, CT, or St Vincent’s Medical Center Swim Across the Sound, or Sisters of Charity.
