Town Players Announce New Season, Changes To Schedule

Members of Town Players of Newtown, the local community theater that operates out of The Little Theatre on Orchard Hill Road, have decided on the shows that will make up the company’s 2007 season.

Season opener will be London Suite, Neil Simon’s comedy of four acts, to be co-directed by Mary Poile and Suzanne Kinnear. The show will open May 11 and run weekends through May 26.

“We are going in a new direction with the production dates this year,” said Ms Kinnear. “The shows will be for three weeks instead of four and we will have two Sunday matinees instead of the one.”

Ticket prices have also changed: All shows are now $18 for evening performances and $15 for matinees. A season ticket for all four shows will be $65. For season tickets, contact Marge Rogers at Town Players, PO Box 211, Newtown CT 06470, or leave a message for her at 270-9144.

The Players’s season will continue with Don Nigro’s Ravenscroft, which will run July 13-28 (the director has not yet been named for this production); Donald Margulies’s Dinner with Friends, directed by Larry Kinner and running September 14-29; and “An Evening of One-Acts,” with various directors (TBA) and tentative run dates of November 16 to December 1.

Additional information about the theater company is available online at NewtownPlayers.org.

Open Auditions

Auditions for London Suite will be Sunday, March 4, from noon to 5 pm, at The Little Theatre. There are roles for up to six men and six women.

For a synopsis and full character breakdowns visit the theater’s website or leave a message for the directors at 270-9144.
