In The Arms Of God
William R. Snyder, 83, of Sandy Hook, died at home, February 18, of complications from Parkinsonâs disease. He was born October 12, 1926, in Fairmont, W.Va.
He was the husband of Gloria Snyder for 53 years and is survived by five children and their spouses, Paul and Cathy Snyder of Newtown, William and Diane Snyder of Ossining, N.Y., Patricia and Stephen Marthouse of Chambersburg, Penn., Thomas and Pamela Snyder of Virginia Beach, Va., and Susan and Derek Nottingham of Waldorf, Md.; and 13 grandchildren.Â
He was a US Army veteran of World War II, and resided for 43 years in Brooklyn and White Plains, N.Y., where he worked as an electrical technician for Con Edison.
He enjoyed spending time with his family and vacationing in the Adirondacks. He was an avid skier and a phenomenal handyman throughout his active life.
His family and many friends will remember him fondly as a man of great faith, keen patriotism, boundless generosity, and enduring good cheer.
A Mass of Christian burial took place February 23 at Saint Rose of Lima Roman Catholic Church, Newtown.Â
