Kidney Foundation To Host Free Organ Transplant Info
WATERBURY â There are currently more than 600 Connecticut residents awaiting transplants. The mission of the National Kidney Foundation of Connecticut (NKF) is to prevent kidney and urinary tract diseases, improve the health and well-being of individuals and families affected by these diseases, and increase the availability of all organs for transplantation.
The National Kidney Foundation of Connecticut (NKF) is sponsoring a free information seminar entitled âGetting Answers: Preparing for an Organ Transplant.â
The seminar, which is open to the public, will educate and inform people about organ transplantation, including the pretransplant evaluation process, the roles of the transplant medical team, and surgery and postoperative care expectations. Transplant professionals, transplant recipients, and living organ donors will all be available to answer questions.
The seminar is scheduled for Monday, May 15, from 6:30 to 8:30. Snacks and refreshment will be served.
It will take place at Saint Maryâs Hospital, 56 Franklin Street.

With the aid of funds raised statewide through various programs, NKF helps thousands of people across Connecticut, including more than 3,000 dialysis patients and residents currently waiting for kidney transplants.
