Medication Adherence Subject Of Next NAMI Talk

FAIRFIELD — On Wednesday, March 3, NAMI Fairfield will host its First Wednesday of the Month Speaker Meeting. The topic will be “Continuity of Care and Medication Adherence,” presented by James Mc Creath, PhD, LCSW, president and chief executive officer, Hall-Brooke Behavioral Health System, Westport.

The meeting will be held in the Eliot Room Library, First Church Congregational, 148 Beach Road, Fairfield, from 7:30 to 9 pm.

NAMI is the National Alliance on Mental Illness. Its goals are to support those living with mental illness and their loved ones, to provide educational programs to the community that foster understanding and healthy living, and to provide advocacy.

The presentation will focus on the need for continuity of care for adults with a mental illness and the risks associated with failure to maintain continuous care. Dr Mc Creath will look at medication adherence and its role in facilitating continuity of care.

The presentation will also review the structure and function of the behavioral health system and how it supports continuity of care. 

Dr Mc Creath earned a PhD in social work in 1992 from New York University and a MSW from Columbia University in 1976. He has more than 30 years of progressive experience in all aspects of community mental health in inner city communities and has maintained a private psychotherapy practice for 20 years.
