Our Big Bucks School Board

To the Editor:

I was gratified to see in The Bee this week that although the new greenhouse for the NHS is slated to cost almost a half a million dollars, board member David Nanavaty seemed confident that he could get our cost down to only $275,000. I realize that the budget was repeatedly defeated last time it was up for a vote, but I remember at the time that the spin put on that event was that the voters were actually rejecting it because they wanted to spend more money on schools, not less.

With that in mind, I’ve been trying to think of how we could spend the windfall that the board expects to realize. The first thing that comes to mind of course would be gold plated door knobs (first impressions and all that), or maybe a Jumbotron TV set for the stadium (but then I thought — that’s probably already in the budget). I’ll admit that I don’t have the creativity to come up with anything better, so, back to you, school board. Tell us what you plan to come up with next!
