ON THE ROAD/SHANNON HICKS

MOPPIN SAUCE returns to Newtown this weekend. The retro/70s cover band has a

show at The Fireside Inn on Saturday night, starting up around 10 pm. A word

of advice: Get there early! This group always puts on a good show, and to

packed houses. Music starts around 10 pm.

If you are planning on taking in the St. Patrick's Day Parade in New Haven

this year -- this weekend -- one place you might want to head towards after

the parade passes you by is Toad's Place on York Street, where THE TIPPERARY

KNIGHTS will continue the revelry with a St. Patrick's Day performance... It's

a bit early, but who cares?, so's the parade! Doors will be open Sunday

afternoon at 3 pm, although the Knights won't be performing until later in the

evening.

BTW, if you want to return to Toad's Place for St. Pat's Day, THE CRAMPS will

be performing. The show that night is open to all ages.

New on the Toad's Place schedule, on opposite ends of the spectrum, are shows

by YNGWIE MALMSTEEN, March 29, and THEY MIGHT BE GIANTS, April 16.

The FIONA APPLE concert that was to have taken place at UConn/Storrs on March

28 has been canceled. Apple has canceled all touring plans for the spring, in

fact.

MIND TYDES, the Newtown band that just handed over its Modern Rock Wars crown

on Thursday night to the latest winners of the radio 104 Modern Rock Wars

contest, will be at Toad's Place in New Haven on March 26.

SEDGEWICK had a great show at Bassetts Coffee House in Brookfield last

Saturday night. Seen here is CJ, who in addition to his guitar playing also

writes the majority of the originals Sedgewick performs and plays the congas.

It was a show of primarily original material, and the guys -- this weekend it

was CJ and MARK -- sounded phenomenal. Just ask any of the hundreds of people

who turned out for the show.

A slight exaggeration there, yes, but there was a good showing Saturday night.

Want to see for yourself what all the fuss is about? Sedgewick returns to the

Bank Street Coffee House in New Milford this weekend, on Saturday, March 14.

Showtime is 8 pm or so.

Until next week, I'll be seeing you... on the road.
