Richard P. Card, III

Richard Patrick Card, III, 8, of 27 North Mark Drive, Oxford, died April 7 in

Yale New Haven from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.

He was the nephew of Lawrence Card of Sandy Hook.

Richard was born December 19, 1990, in Norwalk, son of Richard P. and Celeste

(Tator) Card, Jr. He was a second grade student at Quaker Farms in Oxford, who

loved basketball and model trains. Richard was a member of St Thomas the

Apostle Church.

Besides his parents, he is survived by his paternal grandparents, Richard and

Cecile (Guillette) Card of Milford; his godmother, Elaine Mason of Shelton;

his aunts and uncles, Suzanne Card of Prospect, Kenneth Card of Naugatuck,

Wayne Card of North Haven, Denise Card of Orange, Benjamin Tator; and several

cousins.

Calling hours were scheduled at the Southbury Funeral Home of Munson-Lovetere,

235 Main Street, North, Route 6 & 67, on Thursday, April 8, from 6 to 9 pm. A

funeral Mass will be held on Friday, April 9, at 10 am, at St Thomas the

Apostle Church, Route 67 in Oxford. Burial will be held in the Brookside

Cemetery, Oxford.

Memorial contributions may be made for children with PDD (Pervasive

Development Delay) to the S.L. Harris Fellowship in Autism at Rutgers

University, c/o Dr M. Powers at The Center for Children with Special Needs,

384 Z. Merrow Road, Tolland, CT 06084.

Leslaw Rodnicki

Leslaw Rodnicki, 51, of 1618 Elsworth Avenue, Danbury, died April 2 in Norwalk

Hospital.

He was born in England, January 3, 1948, son of Wiktoria (Popiel) Rodnicki of

Newtown and the late Paul Rodnicki. A veteran of the Vietnam War, he was in

the 101 Airborne Division. He was last employed as a clerk at Food-Mart.

He is survived, besides his mother, by one son, Willard F. Corbey of Taunton,

Mass; two sisters, Teresa Rainieri and Lisa Pander, both of Fairfield; one

granddaughter; and three nieces and one great-nephew.

Funeral services were held April 6, from the Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main

Street, Newtown, and St Rose Church for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment

was St Rose Cemetery.

Contributions may be made in his memory to Interlude, Inc, 7 Main Street,

Danbury, CT.

Ann Harney

Ann Harney, 92, died April 1, at Mediplex of Danbury. She was the aunt of

Gloria Garvin of Newtown.

Miss Harney was born in Elmhurst, N.Y., December 6, 1906, daughter of James

and Anne Whalen Harney. She was educated in New York and worked as a

bookkeeper for the New York Philharmonic Orchestra from 1954 to 1986. She came

to this area in 1996 from Jackson Heights, N.Y.

Besides her niece, who was her care giver, she is survived by several other

nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held at the Cornell Memorial Home, 247 White Street,

Danbury, on April 5. Burial was in St Rose Cemetery in Newtown.

Louis Bastos

Louis Bastos, 53, of 22 Byron Street, Danbury, died at his residence on April

2.

He was born in Danbury, October 25, 1945, son of Eugenia (Silva) Bastos of

Danbury and the late Serafim Bastos. He was a lifetime Danbury resident and a

graduate of Danbury High School in 1964 and the University of Bridgeport in

1968. Mr Bastos served with the US Navy during the Vietnam War and was an

employee of Grolier's in Danbury.

He had also been a co-owner of the Red Brick General Store in Sandy Hook and

was a past president of the Sandy Hook Organization for Prosperity (SHOP). In

honor of all of his activities on behalf of Sandy Hook, SHOP dedicated the

Sandy Hook Bridge and lights in his name. In his youth, he had been active

with the Sons of Portugal Band.

In addition to his mother, Mr Bastos is survived by three sisters, Elaine

Ashley of New Milford, Marge Bastos of Boston, Mass., and Jean Marie Sears of

Broken Arrow, Okla.; five nieces and nephews, Christine Martin, Robin

Sorenson, Steve Ashley, Ryan Sears and Alexis Sears; and five great-nieces and

nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St Peter Church, Danbury, on

April 5. Burial followed in St Peter Cemetery.
