NHS Football Team Holds

Blue & Gold Scrimmage

On Friday night, June 9, the Newtown High School football team wrapped up the

1995 school year with the annual Blue & Gold scrimmage game at Bruce Jenner

Stadium.

Next season's team captains chose up sides for a scrimmage contest that

concluded spring practice sessions.

In a tigthly contested matchup, it was the Blue team, coached by NHS head

coach Bob Zito, who came out on top of a 14-13 decision.

Fullback Ryan Henry scored both touchdowns for the Blue team, with kicker

Curtis Hussarungsri splitting the uprights for a pair of extra-point

conversions, the latter turning out to be the game winner.

Blue quarterback Dan Schneider put forth a fine effort as did Gold QB,

two-year NHS starter Chris Petitti.

Coach Zito also praised the efforts of Gold-team runningback Brett Booth who

plowed for 70 yards on the night.

The Gold team was coached by NHS defensive coordinator, John Murphy.

The team will reassemble in August to prepare for the next school season

beginning the first week in September.
