Recognizing The Queen's Jewels
Recognizing The Queenâs Jewels
BRIDGEWATER â âThe Queenâs Jewelsâ will be the topic of a program presented at The Burnham Library on Sunday, October 19, beginning at 3 pm.
Begged, borrowed and bought (but definitely not stolen!) piece by piece from distant India, across the Russian Steppes and winkled out of the vaults of some of the worldâs finest jewelers, the collection is considered by many to be one of the most romantic in its diversity.
Although Queen Elizabeth IIâs collection of jewelry is one of the greatest in the world, it is the stories behind its acquisition that are so fascinating. Because the queen constantly wears many of these pieces in public, after hearing this program participants will be able to identify specific pieces in the future.
Patricia Carr of New Milford, who was educated in private schools in England and has continued to pursue a lifelong interest in the fine arts and history, will present the program.
The library is at 62 Main Street South (Route 133). The program is sponsored by the Friends of the Burnham Library and is open to anyone who wishes to attend, free of charge. Call the library for further information at 860-354-6937.
