ON THE ROAD FOR MARCH 19

Tickets for THE MIGHTY MIGHTY BOSSTONES' rescheduled date at Sacred Heart

University in Fairfield are, surprisingly, still available. Tickets are just

$20 each for the March 19 show. Anyone holding tickets from the original date

(February 26) will still be able to get in Friday night, of course. Showtime

is 8 pm; doors open at 7. For more info, call 371-7846.

SGT SCAGNETTI, the 7-piece rock/ska band out of New Haven, will be at The

Garage -- a/k/a the Newtown teen center on Church Hill Road -- on Friday,

March 26. Showtime is 7 pm, and cost is $7 at the door. Spastic Habits and 5

Knuckle Shuffle both have opening sets.

I know you've heard of these guys, and if their name sounds familiar it's

because you've probably seen them play, too. Sct Scagnetti has been at The

Webster Theatre in Hartford, Tuxedo Junction in Danbury, The Globe in Norwalk

and Toad's Place in New Haven, ECSU, Connecticut College, Yale, about 100

places in the city and an equal number of places in Massachusetts, among other

states. They've played with or opened for CHERRY POPPIN' DADDIES, REEL BIG

FISH, GOLDFINGER, SOUL COUGHING, FISHBONE, 2 SKINNEE J'S, LESS THAN JAKE,

SPRING HEELED JACK USE, BIM SKALA BIM, and again, about 100 others. And now

they're coming right to Newtown next weekend. How can you miss?

My question this week: What does a telemarketer do when, at the end of the day

and it's time to relax in the privacy of their own home, their phone starts to

ring with calls from other telemarketers? I mean, how hypocritical would it be

to hang up on a fellow telemarketer? (I have to share a little secret with

you: The best calls I've received from those annoying people are the ones that

come into the office trying to sell us subscriptions to newspapers... Talk

about not having a clue!)

Until next week, I'll be seeing you... on the road.

Questions and comments concerning "On The Road" (or anything music related)

should be sent to Shannon Hicks, c/o Bee Publishing Co., 5 Church Hill Road,

Newtown 06470, or shannon @thebee.com. Include a phone number for

confirmation, please . If you don't have a stamp or a piece of paper or a

writing utensil that works, give me a call! Phone number at the office is

426-3141. Shows listed on the calendar at club locations are for ages 21 and

over unless specified.
