To the Editor:

Please elect Moira Rodgers as our new Probate Judge. She is honest, hardworking and dedicated, and she cares about helping others. It is extremely important to elect a Probate Judge who can help transition Newtown through the changes that will be coming to the probate courts in the next several years.

A new law has been passed that requires all Probate Judges to be lawyers by January 2011 (unless grandfathered). Moira is already a lawyer. Also, the number of probate courts in Connecticut will be reduced from 117 to 55 by January 2011. Newtown, Ridgefield, Bethel, and Redding will likely share a Probate Court. I would like the court to be located in Newtown. I believe Moira is the best candidate to fight for Newtown’s position and hopefully remain our Probate Judge for many years to come. Margot has done a fantastic job and we wish her well in her retirement. (We have plenty more for her to do). She has left big shoes to fill, but I feel Moira is the woman who can fill them.

Please join me in voting for Moira Rodgers on November 3.
