Robbery Reported At TJ Maxx
Police report a first-degree robbery and third-degree larceny at about 8 pm on
January 5 at the TJ Maxx store at Sand Hill Plaza on South Main Street.
Police said two black women were seen concealing merchandise in shopping carts
in the spacious clothing store.
After one of the women had gone outside the store, a security guard attempted
to apprehend the other woman inside the store, police said. The woman in the
store then pulled out a can of chemical irritant spray and sprayed it at the
unidentified security guard as the woman fled the store, according to police.
The woman who had sprayed the guard then returned to the store with the other
woman to retrieve a garment of theirs, police said.
Store security then saw that the woman who had left the store first was
carrying a razor knife, police said. The two women then ran to the back of the
store and collected goods which they then ran off with, police said.
Although a license plate number for the vehicle in which the women fled had
been obtained, the number didn't match the vehicle which it was on, police
said.
Police said the assailants stole approximately $1,000 worth of goods in the
incident which is under investigation.
