Women’s Club Launches

‘Flags On The Green’ Fundraising Project

BETHEL — Looking for a meaningful way of honoring current or former members of the military or simply pay tribute to all men and women for their service to our country in time of war?

Bethel Women’s Club will spearhead the Bethel Flags on the Green Project, to be presented on the green in front of Bethel Town Hall May 15–31.

Flags can be purchased for $10 each and will be personalized with a friend or family member’s name, rank, service branch, and dates of service. Members of Bethel Women’s Club will be on hand during Bethel Bloom event on April 24 with the forms to be filled in at Bethel Senior Center and on Greenwood Avenue.

Forms will also be available at American Pride, just off Greenwood Avenue.

All forms with relevant information need to be completed and returned to Bethel Women’s Club, 15 Andrews Street, Bethel CT 06801, by April 30.

All proceeds will benefit Vets Oasis centers established on college campuses throughout Connecticut. These centers, equipped with computers and lounge areas, provide a much needed safe environment for our returning veterans to socialize among themselves, discuss their experiences, their struggles, and plans to find suitable ways to reenter society. The Vets Oasis project was spearheaded in 2008 by the General Federation of Women’s Club of Connecticut, Inc (GFWC/CT).
