Eleanor M. Cassidy
Beloved By Family
And Friends
Eleanor M. Cassidy, 81, died April 4, with family and friends by her side. She was the daughter of Joseph and Maria Miguel, and the beloved wife for 45 years of Thomas F. Cassidy. She was born in Lousan, Portugal, November 4, 1928.
Besides her husband, she is survived by her two sisters-in-law Louise Morgan of Newtown and Shirley Cassidy of Sandy Hook; two sisters, Phyllis MacKinnon and Julie Corona, both of Danbury; and four generations of nephews and nieces
She was a longtime resident of Danbury and a member of St Peter Church. She retired after 35 years of employment from American Cyanamid, formerly Davis & Geck.
She was a loving, caring, and smart woman, admired and respected by those who knew her. Although Mrs Cassidy did not have any children of her own, she became the âmatriarchâ of the family. More than that, everyone in her family knew they could count on her in good times and in bad. She was a wonderful friend to all the lives she touched, and a strong role model for her nieces. She was passionate in her beliefs and values.
Mrs Cassidy loved to travel and meet people all over the world, and she always kept up with current events and the young generation. She was a whiz at computer applications, especially creating photo DVDs.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated April 7. Interment followed in St Peter Cemetery, Danbury.
Memorial contributions may be made to the ALS Association, 27001 Agoura Road, Suite 250, Calabasas Hills CA 91301 or alsa.org.
