Vote No On The Budget        Â
Vote No On The Budget        Â
To the Editor,
The market crashed Friday. Hopefully the recession will last only three to five months because of national elections this year. How will you fare? Will you get a 10 percent raise or will you have a job? This insane budget is proposed by people who canât govern. The fox claims we have a 75 percent residential town, and building construction continues at a high rate. He claims he doesnât know what to do should we go to 90-95 percent residential.
Fairfield Hills is perfect for an industrial park and shopping area. The tax base will increase dramatically and the spenders could have their field day. Traffic will bypass Newtown. We donât need golf courses or horse ovals. We need services that service all of the people of Newtown. We need clean and well maintained roads, perhaps leaf pick-up vehicles, sidewalks with curbs, bicycle paths, salt reserves, and snow removal equipment. An impossible task is to disagree without being disagreeable.
The Board of Education demands unsustainable increases every year. They have good soldiers who send letters to The Bee that are so obviously orchestrated (see 04/14/2000 and 04/7/2000 of The Bee) by C.L. with corrections and additions or omissions. Are you tired of hearing wonderful words instead of deeds? âQuality education,â âItâs for your children,â without any evidence? Vote No to this mind boggling budget.
