Imagine being an artist looking for a picturesque outdoor setting to paint and

stumbling upon the view atop Castle Hill Road.

It happened to three area artists who were traveling through town last Friday

seeking a site to hold a September workshop with world-reknowned artist George

Kountoupos of Oklahoma.

"We knew about Main Street in Newtown, so we drove through town and eventually

found this spot," explained Kita Macon of Huntington. "It's really beautiful

up here."

Mrs Macon came to Newtown with fellow SCAN members Madeline Eli of Huntington

and Tracey Sayles of Trumbull.

Friday was an especially clear day, with low humidity, blue skies and hardly a

cloud in the sky. It provided an exceptional view of Newtown's historic Main

Street.

Mr Kountoupos, who has traveled all over the world in search of settings to

paint, will arrive in the area September 23.

For more information, call Mrs Macon at 929-5647.
