Application Deadline Approaches For Friendship Dairiesâ âProject Friendship Scholarshipâ
Friendship Dairies is awarding $5,000 in scholarship money through its âProject Friendshipâ program to three eligible high school seniors across Connecticut who have been accepted at an accredited college or university. The scholarship, established as a thank-you to Connecticut residents for their support of Friendship products, is part of âProject Friendship.â The program was established last year to encourage todayâs young people to adopt more positive values that can help them become successful and help make the world a friendlier place.
Founded 90 years ago, Friendship Dairies is the largest family-owned business of its kind, producing a complete line of all-natural, cultured dairy products including cottage cheese, sour cream, buttermilk, farmer cheese, butter pot cheese, and yogurt. Relative newcomers to the Connecticut market, Friendshipâs all-natural cottage cheese and sour cream are available in supermarkets across the state.
Application deadline is March 31. Applications received after this date will not be eligible.
Applicants must be graduating high school seniors residing in Connecticut. Selection criteria are based on academic achievement (3.0 or higher grade point average) and demonstration of leadership in school and/or community volunteer activities that promote a safe and friendly environment.
Application requirements are: Four-year high school transcript including class size and GPA; two letters of reference â one from a teacher familiar with the studentâs academic ability and one from a community leader familiar with the studentâs volunteer activities; a detailed list of school and/or community volunteer work; an essay (1,000 words or less) explaining how the student has made his/her high school a friendlier place and how he/she plans to use his/her education to make the world a friendlier place.
