Occupation: I’m a sales development manager with King Industries in Norwalk. I graduated from Stevens Institute of Technology in Hoboken, N.J. with an engineering degree with a major in chemical engineering.

How Long in Newtown: I will have lived in Newtown for 20 years this November. Before moving to Newtown, we lived outside of Orlando, Fla. I was there for five years with Union Carbide and moved with Carbide here. I grew up in Goshen, N.Y., so moving to Newtown was kind of like coming back home.

Biggest Change Seen in Town: There are two big things. Fairfield Hills was nearly full when we moved here and now it’s empty. Also, when we’d drive around town, there were a lot of farms and fields. A lot of those pastures don’t exist anymore. There are a lot more kids in school, and more traffic.

Family: My wife, Debbie, and I will be married for 26 years in May. We have two children, Jeff, 20, who is a junor at Penn State majoring in electrical engineering, and Jeremy, 14, a freshman at Newtown High School.

Hobbies: I’m trying to play golf as much as I can. I also enjoy gardening, not vegetable gardening, but moving plants around and cleaning up and working in the yard.

Favorite Books and Authors: I like to read. I fly often on business so I’m always in airports or on airplanes so I get to read a lot. I enjoy books by Grishom and Clancy. They’re my two favorite authors. I like their work in general and enjoy their style.

Favorite TV Show: Law & Order and and NYPD Blue.

Organizations: We are members of St Rose parish. I’m currently a lector at church and a carnival volunteer. I am a past president and member of the Parish Advisory Council. I have been on the board of Newtown Soccer Club for ten years. I was president for five years. Now I’m in charge of the travel and premier teams, inter-town teams, and am still a member of the board. I’m also a soccer referee. Both boys played soccer, and that’s how I got started, so I suppose I’ll keep going until Jeremy’s through.

Most Vivid Memory of Newtown: The Christmas tree lighting and the luminaria. I enjoy driving along and seeing them. It’s a nice community activity. I like living in a community where everyone gets involved. I also remember the fireworks. That was nice, too.

Favorite Vacation Spot: Cape Cod. My mother-in-law lives there so we go often. I’ve always found something new to see in western Europe. I’ve been to France, Switzerland, and England, and other western European countries. They are all unique in their own sense. There are differences in food, language, customs – they are all different and interesting.

Personal Philosophy: There’s one thing my mother always told me and that was to participate in things where you live, like church and activities. She always took me along to things she did, and I guess I learned from that. Also, try to look at the big picture and don’t sweat the details. What’s important is the overall effect, which makes it easier to make a decision, but at times that’s hard to do.
