OBITS A. Elizabeth McCabe

A. Elizabeth McCabe, 89, of Sugar Street, Newtown, died August 16, at Danbury

Hospital. She was the wife of the late James A. McCabe and had just moved to

Newtown from Sarasota, Fla., to live with her daughter, E. Sue Klein.

Mrs McCabe was born in Ralston, Iowa, May 30, 1906, a daughter of Grace Bowman

and John Fulton Jones. She graduated high school in Coon Rapids, Iowa, and

received a degree from Iowa State Teacher's College in Cedar Falls.

For more than 50 years, the McCabes lived in Rock Island, Ill. Mrs McCabe

taught in elementary schools in that area until retirement.

She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Sarasota, Fla.

Besides her daughter, she had a son, James, who died in 1971. She is survived

by 12 grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.

Church, 92 Church Hill Road, Sandy Hook 06482; or to Trinity United Methodist

Church, 4150 South Shade Avenue, Sarasota, FL 34231.

A memorial service will be held in Newtown United Methodist Church on

Saturday, August 26, at 2 pm. Burial will be in Sarasota.

Elizabeth Pesak

Elizabeth K. "Betty" Pesak, 68, mother of Elizabeth Gail Nagle of Newtown,

died August 18, at Danbury Hospital. She was the wife of Joseph J. Pesak of

Danbury.

Born in Norwalk, June 23, 1927, she was a daughter of Thomas and Mabel Morton

Festa.

Mrs Pesak was employed as a switchboard operator at New Milford Hospital for

more than 15 years, retiring in 1968. For the past several years, she worked

part-time at Lord & Taylor in Danbury.

She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church of Danbury.

Mrs Pesak moved to this area in 1959 and lived in New Fairfield for 26, then

in Brookfield and Maryland, before moving to Danbury in 1990.

She is also survived by another daughter, Judi Romello of Greenbelt, Md.; a

brother, Thomas Festa of Norwalk; and a granddaughter, Tiffany Romello of

Greenbelt, Md.

Contributions in her memory may be made to the Step of Faith Program at

Immanuel Lutheran Church, 32 West Street, Danbury 06810; or to a charity of

one's choice.

Services were held August 21, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, with the Reverend

Daniel Wehmeier officiating. Cremation will take place at the convenience of

the family.
