The Newtown Power went 2-2-1 at the Paul R. Cody Columbus Day Weekend Tournament in Windsor. The Power defeated Naugatuck (2-1) and Wethersfield (1-0), tied Somers (1-1), and lost to Suffield (2-1) and Massapequa (2-1).

The Newtown Power went 2-2-1 at the Paul R. Cody Columbus Day Weekend Tournament in Windsor. The Power defeated Naugatuck (2-1) and Wethersfield (1-0), tied Somers (1-1), and lost to Suffield (2-1) and Massapequa (2-1).

In the win over Naugy, Kelley Gaston and Nora Murphy scored the goals off assists from Allie Korchman and Gaston, respectively. Christina Naldini and Leah Barrett played solid defense. In the loss to Suffield, Gaston scored the lone goal while Allie Fuentes and Brooke Leifels played solid midfield.

In the loss to Massapequa, Long Island, Meghan Carney scored off an assist from Gaston. Mattie Keane and Kendall Svanda played superb goal. In the tie with Somers, Barrett scored off an assist from Naldini. Virginia Trombini and Leifels played solid defense.

And in the win over Wethersfield, Nora Murphy scored on assists from Barrett and Korchman.  Keane and Christina Caporale combined at goal for the shut out. Molly Mahony, Fuentes and Carney controlled the midfield.

League play …

Middlebury 2, Power 1 – Allie Fuentes scored off an assist from Allie Korchman. Christina Caporale played solid defense.

Boys U10

 

The Crusaders went 3-0-1 in a Round Robin Tournament under the lights in Bethel last Friday. The Crusaders scored six goals and allowed none along the way with Ryan Dunnigan (3), Conrad Normann, Justin Brophy and Hank Helgren putting balls in the net.

Colin Cooper and Travis LeBlanc played well on offense and Adam Ellison was solid in goal in an initial 1-0 win. In a 2-0 win in Game #2, Andre Capozziello and Jason Marks supported the offense as Dan Gallagher was superb on defense.

In Game #3, a 0-0 tie, Sean Burson and Cooper played well on offense while Josh Barrett and LeBlanc played well on D. Marks was solid in goal. And in Game #4, a 3-0 win, Dunnigan scored twice while Gallagher and Brophy anchored the defense.

League play …

Crusaders 1, Brookfield 1 – A battle of the unbeatens ended in a tie. Sean Burson scored the lone Newtown goal while Adam Ellison, Jason Marks and Dan Gallagher were an offensive force. Travis LeBlanc played excellent defense and Conrad Normann was solid in the net.

Girls U11

Winsted 1, Roadrunners 0 – Kristen Stoller, Katie O’Dell and Jill Jagoe controlled the game at midfield. KellyAnne Brophy and Sarah Murtha led the offense and Ali Pliszka and Becca Jaroszewski played great defense.

Girls U12

Against some tough premier teams, the Rampage went 0-3 at the Parsippany Pride Tournament in Parsippany, New Jersey. The Rampage lost to the Germania Stingers of New Jersey (2-0), Western United of Massachusetts (2-0) and the West Windsor Strikers of New Jersey (3-0).

In the loss to Germania, the Rampage received strong play from defenders Jordyn Good, Taylor Smith and Berenice Bryant. Katie Pessin registered seven saves in the goal. Laura Bittman and Monica Warek provided strong play at forward.

In the loss to Western United (which would go on to win the U12 division for the tournament), Laetitia de Brantes, Susan Mason, Sara Kelley and Caleigh Boyle played well at midfield while Pessin notched 12 saves in the goal. Ally Modzelewski and Hannah Basch-Gould were strong defensively for the Rampage.

And in the loss to West Windsor, Kate Bowen and Kristen Tanner supplied strong pressure at forward while Kirsten Hudock played well at midfield. Pessin registered nine saves in net1 for the Rampage.
