with cut: Tree Brightens Lives At Nunnawauk Meadows
Fourteen years ago, Ken Anderson of Nunnawauk Meadows planted a two-foot blue
spruce. On Tuesday night, he and the two friends who had decorated the tree,
watched the faces of their neighbors light up with pleasure at the first
annual Christmas tree lighting at Nunnawauk West.
"Look at all the houses, all the people who can enjoy it," said Roxie Define
as his hand swept over the rows of senior housing. "It's good for the
community."
Mr Define, who has lived at Nunnawauk Meadows for 2« years, was responsible
for engineering the project. Art Monsanto of the maintenance crew helped with
getting electricity to the tree.
"There are 600 lights on that tree," said Mr Anderson. The lights, cord, and
plug were bought with money contributed for the project by residents in that
section of Nunnawauk Meadows.
Twenty-six people came to watch the tree lighting this week. Caregiver Gail
Grassler surprised participants with coffee, hot chocolate, and doughnuts.
