Students Inducted Into Honor Societies

Sixty four juniors from Newtown High School were inducted into the National

Honor Society during a May 10 ceremony.

The new inductees are Kristin Bandura, Deepa Bansal, Clare Beams, Stephen

Berte, Elana Bertram, Joe Blanchard, Rebecca Bombero, Ryan Braun, Sarah

Carlson, Carela Catigano, Jessica Clark, Caitlin Collier, Amanda Cruz,

Jonathan Danyew, Christopher David, Jennifer Dorenbosch, Richard Engel,

Catherine Foster, Kelly Fuller, Matthew Garbarino, Laura Hammond, Katharine

Hayes, Erin Hughes, Adam Hunzeker, Sage Huskins, Eric Kalb, Mark Kalb, Amichai

Kilchevsky, Shawna King, Melissa Knees, Elizabeth Kochuba, Benjamin Kunkel,

Lydia Lanzetta, Kaitlin Lavery, Sara Leddy, Erin Lewis, Heather Liljengren,

Daisha Manfredonia, Brittany McClure, Lauren McCuster, Bret McEvoy, Julia-Jane

Tendler, Katherine Thoreson, Janelle Tracy, Kate Yackel and Gregory Zencey.

Qualifications for selection to the National Honor Society include an academic

average of 88 or better for at least the first five semesters of high school.

A student who is deemed academically eligible then completes a written

application in which the student is asked to provide information regarding

school-related activities, leadership activities, community service, work

experience and awards.

Students were also inducted into the French, Latin and Spanish honor

societies.

Inducted into the French Society were: Stephen Ambrogio, Michelle Black, Joe

Blanchard, Kathy Deng, Geoff DiBeneditto, Heather Gibbons, Daniel Golenbock,

Sarah Letson, Zack Miller, Thomas Oristaglio, Tracy Ravetto, Matt Sullivan,

Christina Wickson and Peter Yemc.

Latin Society inductees were: Sage Huskins, Erin Jones, Meghan Mariano and

Laura Terry.

Spanish honor society inductees were: Kristen Bandura, Kaitlin Barry, Jamie

Beckman, Amber Brown, Sarah Carlson, Greg Chion, Sarah Daniels, Christine

Deweese, John Fiscella, Melissa Fornabia, Daniel Golenbock, Ryan Ignatius,

Lesley Janutolo, Mark Kalb, Melissa Knees, Jenna Kurek, Jeffrey LaBianco,

Nicole LaFrancsca, Courtney MacRae, Dan Maley, Mallory McQuail, Stephanie
