with cuts: Getting Ready For The Big Christmas Turn-On
The 12th annual Christmas Tree Lighting ceremony will take place December 6 at
6:30 pm at the south end of the Ram Pasture.
Workers this past Saturday completed the task of rigging the lights on the
80-foot tree, which, when lit, is seen by thousands along Main Street, Elm
Drive and Route 302.
Dan Dalton of Glen Gate Company, Stan Perrone of Kesco Electric, and Tim
Sonnenfroh of Tasco Services of Redding have been putting up the lights since
the tradition began in 1984.
Stan, an electrician of Kesco Electric, is in charge of making sure when one
goes out they all don't go out, Dan is the tree expert and Tim of Tasco
Services of Redding supplies the cherry picker.
They got some help this year from a few other guys, including Bob Russell and
Don Bashak of Glen Gate Company, and Joe Migone of Bartlett Tree Experts,
which supplied a 70-foot aerial lift truck along with operator Joe Migone.
The light-stringing project is indeed an event, according to Mr Dalton.
"People know we're doing it so they usually drive by and beep and wave," he
said.
Glen Gate Company this year donated a 10-foot Blue Spruce (next generation's
Christmas tree), which was planted a few yards away from the current tree.
Lunch for the workers was donated by the Chamber of Commerce and was delivered
by librarian Janet Woycik.
