Historical Society Adventure Camp
Historical Society Adventure Camp
Newtown Historical Society will be offering Matthew Curtiss Jr History Adventure Camp, a one-week summer camp for children in grades 3-5.
The camp will be run by Newtown resident Jonathan Coe, who has been teaching history for 11 years and has directed history camps during the last eight summers.
Camp will run the week of July 7-11, and will meet from 9:30 am to 2:30 pm. Classes will meet at The Matthew Curtiss House, 44 Main Street in Newtown.
Activities will include journal-making, stenciling, candle-making, quill writing, butter churning, Colonial games and more. Children should wear comfortable clothing and sneakers that can get dirty. Several walking trips are planned, so rain gear should also be planned on.
Cost is $180 per student, which includes materials. Campers will be responsible for their own water, snacks and lunch.
At least eight students must sign up for the class to run, but space within the Curtiss House prohibits the class size to be more than ten students.
Registration forms can be picked up at C.H. Booth Library, 25 Main Street in Newtown.
