Father’s Day Excursion Planned

DANBURY — Continuing a tradition of unique and interesting rail-related excursions and trips, Danbury Railway Museum is offering up a relaxing day of varied travel on Saturday, June 16 — the day before Father’s Day. A train trip from Danbury and South Norwalk to New Haven, a visit to the Shoreline Trolley Museum, quaint Stoney Creek, and a boat cruise through the Thimble Islands are on the agenda.

At 10:10 am a special excursion train will depart Danbury for New Haven, with a stop at South Norwalk at 10:50 am. Upon arrival in New Haven at 11:35am, the group will be split in two. One group will board buses to Stoney Creek for a Thimble Island boat cruise and then on to the trolley museum in Branford. The second group will start off with the trolley museum and then take the cruise.

Time will be set aside to allow participants to explore Stoney Creek’s restaurants and shops. Both groups will meet back in New Haven for return to South Norwalk at 6:20 pm and Danbury at 7:10.

The fare for the entire trip is $55. A very limited number of tickets are also available for the trolley museum only (no boat cruise, but unlimited trolley rides); the fare for this option is $35 for adults and $30 for children. Because of the limited number of seats available, early reservations  are being strongly suggested being disappointed.

Danbury Railway Museum is in the restored Danbury Station and rail yard at 120 White Street. For further information, visit the Web site at http://www.danbury.org/drm, or call the museum at 778-8337.
