Rotary Youth Leadership Awards

Newtown High School students Caitlen Weber and Adam Konneker, local recipients of the 14th annual Rotary Youth Leadership Awards, were recently honored with 40 other area winners at the Marriott Hotel in Trumbull.

The awards program provides recipients with the unique opportunity to attend seminars centered on career and leadership development. Students learned time management, persuasive thinking, problem solving, and other skills in a professional, yet inviting, environment.

Caitlen is a Guidance Honors Associate, Language Arts Curriculum Review Committee member and involved with the summer reading program, library book sale, and other civic-oriented activities. She also works at the Booth Library and spends her free time volunteering at her local church and refereeing soccer.

Adam Konneker is on the Peer Leadership Council, Future Business Leaders of America, and the track and field team. He also works at the Ridgewood Country Club and Inn at Newtown.

Newtown Rotary provides many programs dedicated to youth development. The awards program recognizes that the youth of today are the leaders of tomorrow. The Rotary endeavors to ensure that youth will be prepared to adopt the leadership role they will be later be called upon to fulfill.
