On The Diamonds ... Youth Softball Highlights

U8

Coalition Equipment 5, My Place 4: The Coalition jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the second inning but My Place fought back to take the lead in the top of the last inning behind the bats of Sarah Brittin and Larkin Huffman, both of whom had 3 hits. Amanda Bradbury scored a run and Cate Norton played well behind the plate. In the bottom of the last inning, slugger Alex Watson popped a double on a 2-2 count and singles from Rachael O’Grady, Zoe Beals and Allie Paynter set up Erin Burns to drive in the winning run.

Coalition Equipment 2, Brookfield Dental 0: For Brookfield Dental, Rylee Mulligan had 3 hits and pitched a hitless inning. Kate McCarthy had 3 hits and made a great defensive play at first base. Sydney Marino contributed with some key hits, Kaysie Fisher pitched a scoreless third inning and Casey McLean made a nice defensive play in the field. Zoe Beals doubled in the second inning, Caitlyn Child moved Zoe over to third and Danny Otero hit a double driving in the first run. The second run came in the fourth inning when Zoe Beals hit a solo home run deep into right-center field. Alexandra Watson and Allie Paynter both did a good job in their pitching debuts and also worked well behind the plate. 

U10

Newtown Hardware 3, Newtown Pools LLC 1: For the Newtown Hardware Yellow Peeps, Lexi Tucker, Jillian Gibney and Caitlyn Linden led the offense. Ashley Gong and Michaela Jackman were great behind the plate at the catcher position. Tucker, Gong and Linden pitched well. For the Newtown Pools Polar Bears, Lauren Wilcox and Aimee Talbot both pitched great while Emily Dirga and Hanna Makris each played great defensive games. Sarah Cizmazia played a great game behind the plate as catcher.

Newtown Hardware 10, My Dog Brand 1: For the Newtown Hardware Yellow Peeps, Caitlyn Linden, Michaela Jackman and Ashley Gong led the offense. Bridget Duero and Isabella Luciano pitched well. Lauren Villamana and Nikki Alexander played great defense. For the My Dog Brand Chili Peppers, Claire Hull and Tegan Doherty had great games at the plate. Katherine Mickewich and Grace Erney led the defense. Emma Maki and Sydney Flint pitched well.

U12

Newtown Glass 19, Taunton Press 5: In the win, Meghan Logan led the offense with 3 hits including a 2-run triple. Erin Bernardi, Anna Guaragno and Lauren Henchcliffe all contributed hits to the offense.  A great pitching debut by Nicole Chaloux and base coaching by injured player Rebecca Pearson helped lead the way. For Taunton Press, Kelly Skewis led the defense, Shaina Evanko pitched 2 strong innings and Brianna Baronowski hit well.
