Patty Murren

While she didn't attend or compete at Newtown High School, Newtown resident

Patty Murren is certainly a noteable entry in the dominant athletes profile.

Murren, the younger sister of former NHS tennis standout Sue Murren, played

tennis at Immaculate High School from 1989 through 1992.

Not only was Patty Murren the most dominant player ever to lace up her

sneakers in the WCC, but was the best high school tennis player that the state

of Connecticut has ever seen.

Beginning in her freshman year, Murren put together a run of four WCC singles

titles and four CIAC State Open singles championships as she coasted through

four years of high school without ever losing a match.

Not only did Murren go a perfect 81-0, but she only lost one set through her

career - that coming in the 1991 State Open finals against Megah Dave. Murren

graduated Immaculate High having won 162 sets of tennis and losing just the

one.
