John David Lennon, 73, former Newtown resident, died June 29, in his home in Grayson, Ga., surrounded by his loved ones. He was a Newtown High School graduate.

Mr Lennon retired from his long career of electrical engineering and moved with his wife and love, Diana Lennon, from New Hampshire to Florida, where they experienced a life of adventure together. Mr Lennon piloted his hot air balloon, and he and Diana traveled across the country in their RV while he enjoyed his other hobby of photography. They wrote of and photographed their travel adventures as they experienced the beautiful sites of the country. They enjoyed classic cars and car shows as well.

Many remember Mr Lennon for his sense of humor and zest for life and adventure. He moved to Georgia from Florida after Diana’s death.

Mr Lennon was incredibly proud of his family: his daughter, Jodi, and son, John, from his first marriage with Newtown resident Beverly Story, and his step-son, Timothy; as well as their respective spouses Doug, Sarah, and Mindy. He was also extremely proud of his granddaughters, Charlotte and Lilly.

His loved ones say Mr Lennon believed that “life was not made up of the moments between breaths, but the moments that take your breath away.”
