A growing number of chefs and restaurant operators are getting as excited about creating specials for the 2018 Newtown/Sandy Hook Restaurant Week as foodies and hungry patrons are to sample them.
The summer of 2018 rolled out a diverse and highly entertaining selection of concerts to attend and review, culminating in a breathtaking multi-act bill as Connecticut hosted its first Farm Aid, which appropriately happened on the first full day of Autumn.
The seven-member Joni Mitchell’s Jazz will celebrate Joni Mitchell’s 75th birthday by playing to audiences at Edmond Town Hall Theatre on Saturday, October 13. Proceeds will go to the Edmond Town Hall restoration fund, earmarked for the historic building’s theater.
In a new partnership with Newtown United Methodist Church, Newtown Parent Connection will present “A Spotlight On Addiction,” Sunday, September 30, at 11:30 am, at the church.
Newtown Cultural Arts Commission and C.H. Booth Library will bring a uniquely Newtown project to the community in recognition of National Arts and Humanities Month. “The Main Street Replica Project” includes free workshops that will teach participants how to use 3D printers to create a miniature replica of Main Street.
C.H. Booth Library will welcome the return of ArtScapades next week for the group’s 25th lecture in Newtown. On Wednesday, September 26, at 6:30 pm, Robin Hoffman and Jodi Stiffelman will present “East Meets West: From Japonism to Impressionism.”

Thank you for your service to all members of the Newtown community, during the past 14 years. Thank you for educating Michael and me on the many ways to help the community. You will make an excellent State Representative.
As a democrat that knows the value of loyalty and who has observed both Michelle Ku and Brandon Moore at Michelle’s recent event and at another gatherings, my family and I stand behind Michelle Ku. She has spent over 14 years actively fighting for Newtown residents and not simply a few months in order to run for a state seat. I think all the candidates are worthy of praise but I want someone who knows what new families and older residents need. I built our home in Newtown hoping our sons will return one day, after their work elsewhere winds down and during our current retirement, to raise families in Newtown. I want someone with a record of advocacy like Michelle’s but also with her sense of commitment and loyalty. I do agree that she deserves the DTC support but when a party is concerned about hurting candidates’ feelings, there is nothing you can do but put one foot in front of the other and she will do that with her usual strength, intelligence, integrity and transparency.
Thank you for enlightening us. This is truly alarming and it says a great deal about any candidate that is endorsed by a group that misleads. My family and I stand behind Michelle Ku and her transparency and commitment. We moved into Newtown five years ago. We were complete strangers but saw her at rallies against gun violence and educational needs and other important matters. We attended several Democratic Town Committee meetings and heard her speak with knowledge, dignity and respect. We were able to ask her questions about the process and receive honest responses. She invested so much time in us and has educated us. I will restate “ it says a great deal about any candidate that is endorsed by a group that misleads”. Thank you for this information and perhaps the candidate that has been endorsed by that group should also address this troubling information because who you stand with, says a great deal about you and silence does as well.
