Traveling through Newtown has been admittedly challenging this week, thanks in large part to ongoing road projects as well as two new undertakings on Wasserman Way-Mile Hill Road.

Reed Intermediate School Principal Anne Uberti was chosen by the Board of Education at its meeting on May 7 to serve as the district’s new assistant superintendent.

One person was in the hospital with burn injuries and an investigation was underway Tuesday morning following a fire that destroyed a home in Hawleyville a few hours earlier.

The Newtown Police Department’s Facebook page this week displayed a blurry surveillance photo of a man believed to have committed identity theft that resulted in a loss of “several thousand dollars,” said police spokesman Lieutenant Aaron Bahamonde.

Police said April 30 they are seeking the owner of an ammunition clip, which was found lying on the ground outdoors in a parking lot near Sandy Hook Diner at 98 Church Hill Road in Sandy Hook Center on the morning of April 23.
