As patrons were eating in the dining room of King’s Breakfast & Lunch at 271 South Main Street (Route 25) about 2:30 pm on Monday, March 4, an unidentified motorist driving an Acura MDX SUV drove into the side of the wood-frame building.

For the fourth consecutive day, Newtown residents woke up to fresh snow on the ground. Monday was just a little different than the previous days, however, in that this time, there was nearly a foot waiting to be shoveled or plowed out of the way.

MERIDEN — Two state police officers, who have commanded the Troop A Barracks in Southbury in the past, on February 22 were promoted to command staff positions during ceremonies at the Connecticut State Police Training Academy.

At a special meeting of the Borough Board of Burgesses held on February 26, the candidates for 14 elected borough offices in the May 6 Borough of Newtown elections received endorsements from the 23 registered borough voters who attended the session, according to borough records. The meeting lasted four minutes.

Newtown Public Schools will be closed Monday, March 4, due to the weather. The school district's staff offices will open at 10:30 am.
