Ahead of the 200th anniversary of the formal incorporation of The Borough of Newtown, Reporter Sam Cross spent time delving into some of the history of the 1,252 acres in the center of town.
At the Borough of Newtown’s Bicentennial Gala celebration on Thursday, May 16, residents and friends alike gathered to celebrate the milestone of 200 years of living history.
Newtown Lions Club and Newtown Hook & Ladder members were joined by others in the community in honoring the long-standing tradition of raising Main Street's summer flag.
Thanks to The Friends of Newtown Seniors in partnership with Newtown Senior Center, a grant was recently secured through Western CT Area Agency on Aging to launch a scroll saw class.

Ultimately, I’m pleased that the Borough Zoning Board chose to follow the zoning regulations and the law rather than give in to the pressure surrounding this project. The settlement also appears to address one of the more legitimate concerns by moving the homes substantially farther from the Rochambeau Trail while preserving additional open space.
I’m glad the Borough ultimately chose to follow its zoning regulations rather than allow the loudest voices in the room to dictate what a private property owner can legally do with their land. That’s how zoning is supposed to work — by the regulations, not by whoever can generate the most outrage with the most amount of clickbait.

Completely lost me at "supporting Kamala Harris for President". I'll grant any pessimist their dim view of the current administration but I just can't take you seriously if you thought she would be a reasonable alternative. I'd sooner vote for the autopen.
