Newtown Police are expanding the eligibility so more local children and youths can be special guest attendees at the department’s first Movie With A Cop event on Saturday, December 15, at 4 pm.

Department officials and officers, along with some invited law enforcement special guests, have rented the Edmond Town Hall Theatre for a screening of The Polar Express motion picture featuring the vocal talents of Tom Hanks.

The promotion is now open to the first 100 Newtown children ages 8 to 15 whose parents register them. Police officers will meet and greet the special guests as they arrive at the theater, treat them to free refreshments and treats, accompany them to their seats, and present them with a gift bag.

A post-screening gift will also be presented to the registered youths as they exit the theater after the film.

Only the first 100 registering will be included in the special promotion, but parents, older siblings, or other friends and family members are invited to enjoy the film; however, any remaining free tickets will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis.

Parents or caregivers may register by e-mailing Officer Maryhelen McCarthy at maryhelen.mccarthy@newtown-ct.gov. Parents should include their name and phone number, along with a residential address, the child’s name, and his or her date of birth.

The first 100 youths between age 8 and 15 will receive a Golden Ticket in the mail or by special delivery before December 15. This ticket must be presented to gain admission to the event. Parents with questions may reach Officer Felicia Figol at 203-426-5841.
