The Resiliency Center of Newtown has added two events to its schedule, both coming up within the next week.

The first program, on Saturday, February 1, at 11 am, will be a youth enrichment experience. Dr Joe facilitates the Creation Song Project’s easy-to-learn rhythms on the big drums, healing song chants and simple step dance.

Children will experience the healing power of music and the connection we all share in the Medicine Wheel of Life in this one hour program. All ages are welcome.

On Tuesday, February 4, at 10 am, the center will host a program on the stress and trauma relief technique known as EFT/Tapping. Tapping is simple to learn and child-friendly.

Developed in the early 90s and used in international disaster relief work, this technique gained notoriety recently with the release of The Tapping Solution: A Revolutionary System for Stress Free Living, a New York Times Best Seller by Newtown resident Nick Ortner.

The technique addresses mindfulness, breathing and body awareness for relaxation, how to release frustration and anger, improvements in clarity and focus, pain relief, as well as many other symptoms of stress. The workshop will be presented by Dr Lori Leyden.

Both events will take place at the Resiliency Center, located at 153 South Main Street, lower level parking.  For additional information or registration contact Stephanie Cinque at 203-364-9750.

The Resiliency Center of Newtown offers long-term healing to those impacted by 12/14 to help these individuals reach their full potential. The center is a program of Tuesday’s Children, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.

Founded in the aftermath of 12/14, The Resiliency Center of Newtown has a full day of special offerings, including crisis counseling, planned for the third anniversary of the Sandy Hook School shootings. Residents can take advantage of the programs free of charge.
