Hawleyville Accident

Police report motorist Janet P. Lesperance, 30, of Brookfield, was driving a 1987 Chevrolet Blazer southbound on Route 25 in Hawleyville, about 1,000 feet north of Currituck Road, about 6 am January 31 when, while attempting to negotiate a curve in the road, the sport-utility vehicle hit some black ice and rolled over, went down an embankment, and entered a stream.

The Newtown Volunteer Ambulance Corps transported Ms Lesperance to Danbury Hospital for treatment of a head cut, police said.

Tricycle Collision

Police report that adult tricyclist William Ready, 61, of 12 Sunnyview Terrace, Sandy Hook, was traveling eastbound on Church Hill Road near the Housatonic Railroad overpass about 5:20 pm January 18 when he attempted to cross Church Hill Road, but in doing so he crossed in front of eastbound motorist A. Winthrop Ballard, 83, of 5 Papoose Hill Road, who was driving a 1992 Chevrolet Caprice.

The auto and the tricycle collided and Mr Ready tumbled over the handlebars, falling to the road, police said.

The Newtown Volunteer Ambulance Corps went to the scene but Mr Ready refused transport to the hospital. He was treated at the scene for abrasions, police said.

Elm Drive Break

Police report a break-in on Elm Drive sometime between 7:30 am and 5 pm on January 26. Police ask anyone with information about the burglary to contact them.
