(The following letter to Newtown First Selectman Pat Llodra has been received for publication.)

To First Selectman E. Patricia Llodra:

Newtown Animal Municipal Control Officer Carolee Mason. Words fail me but you didn’t.

I have lived in Newtown, CT for 35 years. I am an animal lover and dedicate my personal life for nothing in return but knowing another animal is safe. I rescued two dogs and found four kittens in the commuter parking lot off exit 9 in Newtown, in a cold wet box left for dead!

I met Carolee Mason at the new Newtown animal shelter. I have never seen [such] an animal control officer (as I have met many, since I am involved in animal rescue).

Caroee is so unbelievably knowledgeable, caring, and compassionate toward all animals!  She immediately helped me get in contact with many resources as well as people that could help and did help me! She is an amazing woman, who is dedicated to the animals and their well-being. She does her job with amazing love for these animals and for the people who need her help to save many animals that are in need.

All the help and kindness I have received during hard times is just so great! There s not enough paper to express. I was so impressed and amazed with Carolee, I just had to write to you and thank you for having an amazing lady as animal control officer.

Sincerely,

Richard DeMaio
