A Sandy Hook man has been arraigned in Connecticut Superior Court in Danbury on five charges including three felonies stemming from a domestic dispute during which he allegedly threatened the use of a firearm, officials said,

Patrick Laughlin, 32, of Buttonball Drive did not enter pleas at his arraignment on February 23 to first-degree threatening with a firearm, possession of cocaine with intent to sell, and possession of marijuana with intent to sell, all of which are felonies.

Also, Laughlin did not enter pleas to two misdemeanors - possession of a loaded firearm in a motor vehicle, and disorderly conduct.

Following his arraignment, a judge maintained Laughlin's bail at $10,000 for a March 6 court appearance on the five charges.

Police said that evidence confiscated in the case includes more than seven-tenths of an ounce of cocaine, more than 15 ounces of marijuana, more than $600 in cash, a shotgun, ammunition, and drug paraphernalia.

Police said that at about 10:58 am on February 22, they received a call informing them of physical domestic dispute at Laughlin's Buttonball Drive residence which involved his alleged threatened use of a firearm.

Both Laughlin and the victim of the incident received minor injuries in the altercation and both refused medical treatment while on the scene, police said.

During their investigation, police said they found a loaded shotgun, plus the cocaine and marijuana at the property, resulting in the criminal charges.

Commenting on the incident, police Lieutenant Aaron Bahamonde said, "Our officers did an excellent job both investigating this incident and making the arrest of this dangerous suspect. This was a significant seizure, of both...drugs and a weapon."
