Newtown Middle School’s musical production of Disney's Beauty and the Beast Jr is set to be staged this weekend, April 5 to 7, at the school, 11 Queen Street.

While students prepared to rehearse on March 29, Director Theresa Talluto said residents should see the show for its “timeless story,” the “awesome kids,” and “music that makes your heart jump a little.”

Beauty and the Beast Jr will be presented April 5 and 6, at 7 pm, and April 6 and 7, at 2 pm. Tickets for the show will be $10. Tickets can be purchased online at showtix4u.com/events/2279.

Along with Ms Talluto, the production crew members are Producer Andrew Tammero, Choreographer Meghan Quinn, Crew Head Thomas Lovell, Production Intern Kyle Shelton, and Costumes Head Marie Armstrong.

Students have been working hard on the musical, and at March 29’s rehearsal, students sang the song “Gaston” from the play to warm up. Students were huddled on the stage, smiling and bouncing their heads together as they sang. The excitement and camaraderie was palpable.
