Spring Book Donation Day, sponsored by Friends of the C.H. Booth Library, is set for Sunday, April 21, rain or shine from noon to 5 pm. Volunteers will be in the rear parking lot of the library, 25 Main Street, available to help unload vehicles and provide tax receipts.

In addition to new and gently-used books, the Friends welcomes good-condition DVDs, CDs and video games in their cases, complete jigsaw puzzles and board games, and LPs. Books of antiquarian interest are also appreciated.

The Friends cannot accept multi-volume encyclopedias, Time-Life Series and Reader’s Digest books, VHS or cassette tapes, or outdated reference books, text books or travel guides. Magazines and free publications are also discouraged.

The donated items enable the Friends to raise money for the Booth Library at the big annual summer book sale (this year scheduled for July 12-16 at Reed Intermediate School), the annual Holiday Sale in early December, and the Friends-operated Little Book Store, which is open year-round near the main circulation desk on the second floor of the library.

“Our Spring Book Donation Day is a great spring-cleaning opportunity,” says Denise Kaiser, Donation Day coordinator. “Put your items to work for a worthy cause. Just pack them in bags or boxes you don’t need back, load your vehicle, and our volunteers will unload them for you in the parking lot.”

Kaiser said the Friends are particularly eager for donations of adult nonfiction books this spring.

For those unable to get to the library on April 21, donations can be dropped off at the Friends’ Donation Room opposite the elevator on the Booth Library’s first floor any time the library is open.
